The heavy-duty plate feeder (also known as a heavy-duty plate feeder) is a widely used continuous conveying machine in mining, metallurgical, building-materials, port, coal, and chemical industries. It is primarily employed to continuously and uniformly feed and transfer various large, heavy pieces and abrasive bulk materials from storage bins or transfer hoppers to crushers, batching equipment, or conveying systems. As such, it is an essential and indispensable piece of equipment in ore and raw-material processing and in continuous production processes.
Working Principle
This machine feeds ore raw material to a large crushing unit and employs AC variable-frequency speed control to regulate its production capacity. It incorporates advanced technologies such as a high-ratio, high-torque hardened-gearbox reducer with direct-drive coupling and keyless connections, as well as mechanical overload protection. The traction chain is a high-strength crawler track chain designed for bulldozers.
Structural Features
This machine employs high-strength, die-forged bulldozer chains as the traction elements. Two chains are looped around a pair of drive sprockets mounted at the front of the frame and a pair of tension pulleys at the rear, forming a closed-loop circuit. On each link of the two chain rows, overlapping, heavy-duty conveyor troughs are installed, creating a continuous conveying line capable of transporting materials. The self-weight of the machine and the weight of the conveyed material are supported by multiple rows of support rollers, track rollers, and slide-beam supports mounted on the frame. The drive system consists of an AC variable-frequency speed-control motor connected to a reducer, with a shrink-fit coupling directly linking the reducer to the drive unit to propel the conveying mechanism at low speed. Material discharged from the rear hopper is conveyed along the line to the front of the frame and discharged there, thereby achieving continuous and uniform feeding to downstream working equipment. The feeder’s production capacity depends on the effective loading width of the conveyor troughs, the average height of the material layer, and the operating speed. The primary method for adjusting the production rate is to vary the motor speed, thus changing the operating speed.
